Donate to the Restoration Fund

Help us make the changes needed to secure the future of the Mission San Jose for the next generation. Your donation to our Restoration Fund allows us to direct monies to the areas that need the most support.

CRMSJ is a non-sectarian, non-profit corporation that solicits, receives, and maintains funds to use and apply specifically and exclusively to the restoration of the Mission San Jose.

Donate to Museum Wall Repair

The Mission Museum building is housed in the original 1809 padre living quarters (convento). Repairs of the building’s exterior stucco, restoration of the mud plaster to protect the original adobe brick, and replacement of heavily damaged south-facing windows are urgently needed to prevent further damage from water intrusion.

Help us raise the necessary funds to preserve this historic building, the oldest still-standing adobe in Alameda County. Donate below and specify Museum Restoration in the “Additional Information” field or check memo line.

Donate to Art Preservation

The Mission Church displays several art pieces from its earliest days. These items survived the earthquake of 1868 which destroyed the adobe church. Help us raise the necessary fund to conserve these precious artifacts.

  • The original baptismal font from the 1809 adobe church was cleaned and treated in 2024. It has been recommended to protect it from the element to avoid future deterioration. Our vision is to create a display enclosure near the original baptistry. Donations are needed to conserve the painting and build the enclosure.

  • Mater Dolorosa is a dramatic painting that hung in the original baptistry. This piece requires extensive treatment. Donations are needed to in order to display it for all to appreciate.

  • 14 Stations of the Cross are from the early 19th century. A professional condition assessment indicated major treatment is needed to prevent further damage or loss. Donations are needed to conserve these pieces.

  • Statue of St. Bonaventure, patron of the Franciscans, from the 1809 adobe church. Made of carved wood, this statue was treated in the 1980s, but requires periodic conservation measures to preserve it. Donations are needed to conserve this piece.

  • Decorated wall murals were added in 1830s to honor the 25th anniversary of the founding and recreated as part of the reconstruction of the adobe church in the 1980s. The past 40 years of wear and tear have taken a toll. Donations are needed to restore these beautiful walls.

Help us raise the necessary funds to conserve these items. Donate below and specify “Art Restoration” in the “Additional Information” field or check memo line.
