What is CRMSJ?
Mission San Jose, founded on June 11, 1797, is the 14th of 21 Spanish missions established in Alta California. In 1868, a massive earthquake destroyed the Mission Church. A group of like-minded citizens formed the Committee for Restoration of the Mission San Jose (CRMSJ) in 1975, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-sectarian organization, with a vision to authentically reconstruct the Mission Church over its original foundation. They realized their goal in 1985; and, since then, CRMSJ has dedicated itself to the research, financing, and continued restoration of Old Mission San Jose.
